[Terry's Tale] Cheonan, A Mountain Nest

The Korean peninsula is a hilly, mountainous peninsula just off the east coast of Manchuria.  Cheonan has been especially benefitted by this situation in as much as the surrounding mountains and hills protect the area from the menace of typhoons, a type of violent storm very similar to hurricanes.  In addition, Cheonan and surrounding areas are an incredible fertile region.  Moreover, for centuries has reputedly provided the highest quality rice in Korea so, during the years of sovereignty under royal dynasty, Cheonan supplied rice to those who ruled.

Today, Cheonan also benefits from these mountains and hills in other ways.  These areas are kept up as parks to provide the burgeoning population with places of exercise.
